What is a wellness network?

Wellness networks are a formal or informal group of people who come together from various backgrounds within a community or region to address an area of concern around wellness. They may be working toward improved healthy eating, increased physical activity, or another wellness goal. They strive to improve wellness for all those in their communities or regions, including vulnerable populations.

Through a combination of federal and provincial government support, HEPAC is leading an initiative to strengthen wellness networks around the province of NB. This work will lead to regions throughout the province having access to a variety of learning and networking opportunities, tools and resources.

From April 2009 to March 2010, HEPAC worked with 8 different communities and regions across New Brunswick during a demonstration/evaluation year. HEPAC continues to work with these Wellness Networks and is now working with 8 new community and regional Wellness Networks with which to work to build community capacity to achieve a wellness goal.
