Ian Smith (from episode 3!) was in Pascale’s role prior to his retirement and he was really the brains behind the program’s creation.  Get Outside! NB is a variation on Get Outside! BC which is more aimed towards bringing high school level youth outdoors. Get Outside! NB was created with a goal to connect youth and families to nature using the Provincial Parks in the province. The key behind the programs successes is the partnerships the program houses. Get Outside! NB is a partnership between Parks NB, CPAWS NB, Nature NB and Nature Trust.

The Park Natural Leaders are Parks NB staff that are responsible for putting on Get Outside! NB events and really making the program come to life. They organize events such as Beaver Pond tours, bird watching sessions, nature walks, seashore explorer, and much more! They also participate in events throughout NB parks and offer fun nature education activities for all ages!

It’s very important for people to get outside to foster that connection with their natural environment. New Brunswick has so much to offer in its parks and protected natural areas… it’s important to allow people a chance to explore these natural wonders! Feel comfortable with your natural surroundings, and make that connection to foster stewardship for your local environment.

You can learn more about the Get Outside program on the GNB website under Parks and Attractions. You can also follow NB Parks/Parcs N.-B. on Facebook for updates on cool events coming to parks this summer!

Pascale’s top 3:

Favourite place in New Brunswick- Kouchibouguac! Pascale loves the wildlife and beautiful dunes and if you’re lucky you can see seals rolling in the waves.

Favourite food- Carrots fresh from the garden, but really, it’s also homemade peanut butter and dark chocolate.

Favourite activity? Anything outdoors, so slacklining, biking, running, and yoga! And rock climbing and bouldering!
