The Healthy Rural Communities Tool Kit – A Guide for Rural Municipalities was developed through the collaboration of the University of Guelph School of Environmental Design and Rural Development and Ontario Public Health Units. The tool kit aims to enhance the rural built environment and quality of life/health by identifying land use and development strategies. The tool kit looks at Ontario rural planning and development issues often examined through the urban perspective that omits rural issues such as low-density population, declining population in some area, and aging citizens.
